The problem does not end at the wedding

Later summaries place Kashmala beside Mehru and describe her urging Hassan to let his sister decide for herself. The progression matters because a wedding can resolve a scheduling problem without resolving the underlying distribution of responsibility. If one person has always been expected to give way, the habit may simply acquire a new setting.

Kashmala’s position is particularly revealing. A woman can support her husband’s family and still have a legitimate claim on his attention. Treating those interests as incompatible would make her selfish whenever she asks the marriage to function as a marriage.

Supporting Mehru without replacing her judgement

The official descriptions connect Mehru’s circumstances with Hassan’s responses and Kashmala’s support. The most useful distinction inside that strand is between intervention and control. A brother may need to oppose mistreatment; that does not mean his sister’s next decision becomes his property.

That does not require Hassan to be uncaring. It requires the drama to examine how a caring person learns to stop confusing responsibility with authority.

Work is part of the relationship

The disputes over Kashmala’s employment also deserve to be understood as more than household friction. Work provides continuity outside the marriage: colleagues, competence, income and a daily life that is not organised entirely around relatives’ needs.

A reconciliation that restores affection while leaving that independence negotiable would be incomplete. The practical terms of the relationship are where a declaration of respect becomes believable.

Main Tera’s documented premise suits viewers interested in family duty and delayed adulthood. Its story descriptions also indicate difficult material involving domestic abuse and pregnancy loss. It should not be approached as a light romance merely because the central couple’s devotion is part of its appeal.

Hassan deserves a future beyond sacrifice. Kashmala deserves one beyond waiting for that future to become available.
